Welcome to Casey’s SEO. Today I’m going to be going over a five minute guide to SEO and how you guys can implement some of these steps so you can create an SEO plan for you and or your clients. So if you guys are ready, let’s go. So what is SEO? SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization.
Pretty much. You create a bunch of content, do a bunch of things to your website, maybe add a couple of little pieces of code to your server or to your hosting, and try to make your website rank a little bit higher in the search engine. That is pretty much SEO in a nutshell. I know I didn’t cover exactly what you wanted, but that’s what it is. Let’s now break SEO down into four different components.
We’ll look at on page SEO, off page SEO, local SEO, and technical SEO. When you have these four components, you can essentially make changes, which in the long term will help your website increase its rankings, which should hopefully drive more traffic and or customers to your website. The first key component is technical SEO. There are multiple different pieces of software out there where you can run a website audit. Some of these pieces of software are Ars SEM Rush, the web auditor from SEO power suite.
Screaming Frog. Now, all of these pieces of software will tell you what issues you may have wrong with your website. And then these issues you will want to go back and make changes to, to hopefully help improve your search rankings in Google, some of the errors may include missing title tags, meta descriptions, schema issues, or lack of schema, broken back links, site speed issues. There are just a lot of different technical aspects that could be wrong with your website or areas that need improvement. The second area that we’re going to be looking at is on page SEO.
So on page SEO is essentially title tags, meta descriptions. The headings could be h one through an h six. Just the format of your pages, the site structure. All these little things play a huge component in ranking your website on the first page of Google, or any page for that matter, if you guys are missing your title tags, if you don’t have keywords in your content, google and other search engines won’t necessarily know what your page is about. And it may kind of have to guess, or it just may not guess at all.
And then you will be stuck, let’s say on page ten. But if you really think about it, page ten is essentially page two, because nobody really goes past page one to find anything they’re looking for anyways. So you need to make sure that you add your title, text, meta description, you have a structure set up for your website. You have interlinking. You have all these key components put into place in order to hopefully get on the first page of Google.
Now, we’ll move into off page SEO. Off page SEO is essentially building backlinks to your site to show Google or the search engines that you have authority in a certain industry. Backlinks have always been a key component to ranking high in search engines and I believe it always will be. But back in the day, you used to be able to throw out a lot of easy spammy websites in order to get your website to rank higher. But these days, if you can just focus on getting backlinks from somebody with authority in your niche, you are going to be a lot better off and then you should be able to drive a lot more traffic or qualified traffic to your website from these authoritative websites.
Now we’re going to look at the last component, which is local SEO. Now, if you are a local business, I really think you can take local SEO and kind of move it around in your strategy because that is a huge component for a business in a local area and it should be easier to rank for if you are doing all the correct optimizations to your Google business profile page. Your Google business profile page will be your best friend for local SEO. You just have to make sure that you optimize your Google business profile page in order to get better rankings. Some of these areas include your services, your product pages, your photos.
And one key component is to get as many reviews as possible. But you want to make sure that these reviews are good and you’re doing a good job in satisfying the customers with whatever the service that you provide. So there was a quick, hopefully five minute review of what SEO is and the different key components that are involved with SEO. You can watch another video that I have, which are the four strategies the pros used in order to get faster results in that video. I’ll be going over the different key components and some of the different ways that you guys can optimize your website using these four strategies that I just discussed.
